PhD Thesis
Vedant's doctoral research examined software defect management through a human-centred lens — recognising that the process of discovering, reporting, triaging, and resolving software defects is not purely technical but deeply shaped by the people involved, their cognitive processes, communication patterns, and organisational contexts.
The thesis brought together empirical methods and human factors research to understand how developers, testers, and other stakeholders engage with defects throughout the software lifecycle, and how better tooling, processes, and requirements practices can reduce the burden and improve outcomes in defect management. This work contributes to the broader agenda of human-centred software engineering — placing practitioners and their needs at the heart of tool and process design.
